ABOUT THE TRUST

THE WATERVILLE LAKES AND RIVERS TRUST

“The catalyst for the formation of the Waterville Lakes and Rivers Trust was the year on year decline in the stocks of our ‘iconic’ Sea Trout and Atlantic Salmon, for which the Lough Currane Catchment is world famous. As a ‘Rivers Trust’ our remit and responsibilities are not only for fish stocks but also for the wider protection of bio diversity throughout the catchments. Dedicated to conservation and education the Trust aims to work with all local communities of the Iveragh Peninsula, to not only to improve the health of our precious ecosystems but also to protect and conserve all our Key Species. The health of our fish stocks is therefore absolutely crucial to the health of our whole system and overcoming this latest crash in the stocks of our unique, multi sea winter sea trout, is the initial focus of what we do.”
