On the Iveragh Peninsula in Co Kerry, The Waterville Lakes & Rivers Trust is hard at work protecting the Lakes, Rivers and Streams and their Wild Salmon, Sea Trout and other Key Species, which have been an integral part of the cultural, ecological and economic fabric of this part of Ireland for thousands of years.
Unfortunately the populations of these key species are a fraction of what they once were, with the unique Lough Currane ‘Ice Age’ Sea Trout now facing the threat of extinction. By conducting critical research on these wild fish populations and habitats, advocating better land use and management strategies and developing model restoration projects, the volunteers of The Waterville Lakes & Rivers Trust are fighting, tirelessly and on many fronts, from Schools to The Dail, to protect and restore these populations.
To conduct this important work, the Waterville Lakes & Rivers Trust relies on the generous support of the local community and the wider public. Please consider taking out one of our membership packages or making a donation now, to help us in our fight to protect these iconic species.
