Our aim in working with our local schools is to train our younger generation in best practice for environmental management, to inspire the next generation of volunteers to ensure our beautiful landscape will be cared for in the years to come.

We currently offer several options for school visits:

• School visit with talk, art activities and project work.
• ‘Adopt a Stream’ program – involves an initial school visit, a trip to a local stream and project work. We are hoping, during 2017 to expand this scheme to bring it into line with the ‘Small Stream Characterisation Scheme’ designed by the Atlantic Salmon Trust, which will lead to a National Database of the relative health of streams throughout the state.
• School trip to the Conservation rearing unit, including the chance to help release parr into the river (seasonal).

If your school or group are interested in a visit from Waterville Lakes and Rivers Trust please email us at
